Starbucks Philippines Launches Multi-Tier Rewards and All-New Mobile App

Starbucks Philippines is retiring its legacy automatic redemption system starting July 21, shifting to a multi-tiered loyalty setup and an entirely rebuilt mobile app. The update replaces the fixed 100-star conversion cycle with a system that lets customers decide when, where, and how they spend their points.

How the Multi-Tier Rewards System Works

Under the outgoing model, every 100 Stars automatically generated a digital voucher valid for a free drink, bakery item, or cake slice. While straightforward, that process gave members little say over their reward timing, and unused vouchers risked expiring if members did not visit a store in time.

The new program divides perks across three clear tiers:

  • 50 Stars: Drink customizations (such as extra espresso shots, syrups, or milk alternatives) and select baked goods, including doughnuts, bagels, and banana loaf.
  • 100 Stars: Any full handcrafted beverage in any size, or standard bakery offerings.
  • 150 Stars: A new premium bracket covering lunch and dessert items like sandwiches, pastas, and whole cake slices.

This structure allows quick earners to redeem smaller add-ons frequently at 50 Stars or bank their balance toward meals that previously sat outside lower point brackets.

Longer Validity Window for Vouchers

A key operational change involves how voucher expiration works. In the past, stars converted automatically the moment a member crossed the 100-star mark.

Now, Stars stay in your account balance until you manually claim a reward. The 90-day voucher clock starts only after you choose to generate that reward. If you know you will be away from a store for weeks, you can leave your Stars untouched rather than watching an active voucher run out.

App Migration and Account Data

Taking advantage of the tier system requires downloading the new Starbucks PH App from the App Store or Google Play beginning July 21. Starbucks will take the previous application offline permanently.

Current members do not need to create a new profile. Logging in with your existing account credentials transfers everything over:

  • Current Star totals
  • Stored card balances and gift card funds
  • Account profile information

New members can sign up directly in the updated interface using a standard email address. The new app build improves load speeds, simplifies login authentication, and provides real-time Star tracking that updates immediately after every purchase.

Temporary Pause on Mobile Order & Pay

While the app upgrade introduces faster account tracking, Mobile Order & Pay will not be available on launch day.

Members must order and pay directly at the counter using their digital Starbucks Card, physical card, or cash/credit linked to their profile to collect stars. Starbucks confirmed Mobile Order & Pay will return in a later application release, with the exact rollout date to be announced through official company channels.
